And the Good Things Just Keep Coming
I saw my medical oncologist today - for the first time since September. Of course my doctors all talk to each other - but I hadn't actually talked to her. She told me that I should be excited - the fact that the chemo got rid of the cancer completely is incredibly good news - the best result you can ever hope to get and the best odds you can ever have. She said there is strong long term data on women who have a "complete response," she said the chances that I am "cured" are much higher than if the chemo had left some cancer behind and that the recurrence/spread rate is significatly lower for women who respond the way that I did. She said it is more likely to come back somewhere else rather than as breast cancer - but that my lymph nodes were clear so it isn't very likely. She said that the odds are OVERWHELMINGLY in my favor, that she would be very very surprised if I ever had cancer again.
